Characteristics:
Fleshy, dark red, flattened fronds. It may grow to a height of 5-10 cm, in very variable shapes. New fronds grow from the upper margin of existing ones. When fertile, small spherical growths (1-2 mm) can be found along the margins.
Habitat:
Grows on rocky substrate in the subtidal zone, preferably on sheltered locations.
Distribution:
It seems to be widespread on the northern hemisphere.
