• Kingdom: Plantae
  • Phylum: Chlorophyta
  • Norwegian: grønnalger

Characteristics:

Most green algae are aquatic and are colored by the same chlorophyll a and b, which are found in land plants. They are highly adaptable and can be found on a large range of depths, both on exposed and sheltered locations.

There are approximately 100 different marine, bentic (lives on the bottom) species in Norway. Unfortunately, most of them cannot be identified without the use of a microscope, so the number of species presented here will be very limited.
