Characteristics:

You can hardly mistake this snail with any other species along the coast of Norway. The brown (or brownish red) and beige ribbons spiraling up towards the apex, are easily recognized. The shell is conical, straight sided with a flat base. The height can reach 3 cm.

Habitat:

From lower tidal zone to 300 meters depth. Can be found both on rocky locations as well as on softer substrate.

Distribution:

It is widespread in the East Atlantic Ocean, from Norway to the Mediterranean, Canaries and Azores.
