Characteristics:
E. tricolor can reach a length of 45 mm. The white or yellow tipped cerata have a dark, usually black, digestive gland duct. Sometimes the tip is white with a yellow band. The slightly inflated cerata are densely packed. The body is translucent white and may reach a length of 45 mm.
Habitat:
It is most common in late winter, spring and early summer, when it can be seen feeding on hydroids. It is usually found from the subtidal zone and down to 80 meters depth.
Distribution:
It is a nordic species, known in the North-East Atlantic Ocean, from the Arctic to France.
