Characteristics:
Hydroid stage: No information.
Medusa stage: The height of the umbrella is approximately 1/4 of the diameter. The diameter of mature medusae is usually 6-7 cm. The stomach is 1/5 of the diameter, circular or star-shaped. There are 11-17, usually 12-16, radial canals. The gonads form folded bands along two thirds of each canals. There may be as many as 450 radial canals.
Habitat:
It is recorded off-shore as well as in the coastal areas.
Distribution:
This species is registered both in the eastern and western parts of the North Atlantic Ocean.
