Medusa stage: The umbrella may reach a height and diameter of 25 millimeter. Typical for this species is the yellow (saffron) gonads. It has four radial canals and approximately 64 tentacles.
Habitat:
It is often found on rocky substrate well below the tidal zone, but rarely deeper than 100 meters. It is also recorded on a variety of plants and shells of crustaceans or mollusks.
Distribution:
P. crocea is widespread in the North Atlantic Ocean.
