Characteristics:
Due to its modest dimensions, the cylindrical column is 30 x 3-4 mm, and well hidden locations in crevices and holes, this common and beautiful sea anemone is easily overlooked. The cylinder is transparent with a pink or reddish center. The lower part of the cylinder wall usually has a white coloration. Up to 36, but usually less than 28 slender tentacles are quickly retracted when disturbed.
Habitat:
It can be found in holes or crevices, below the mid-tide level. It often appears in large aggregations.
Distribution:
Known from the British Isles, south Scandinavia and France. It may extend all the way to the Mediterranean.
