Characteristics:
This is a relatively large anemone, a length of 20 cm is common. There are approximately 100 short tentacles surrounding a large white, yellow or orange disk. The oral opening is deep orange. The cylinder is usually white and narrows towards the top.
Habitat:
This is a deep-sea species that can be found on muddy as well as rocky locations. In Norway, it is usually seen deeper than 45 meters. In Chile it has been seen as shallow as 15 meters.
Distribution:
There are reports from across the North-Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Pacific Ocean.
