Characteristics:
The dorsal fin starts just next to the mouth and runs all the way back to the tail fin. Coloration is usually adapted to the surroundings, but the background color is often beige or light grey. The length does not exceed 25 cm.
Habitat:
This left eyed flounder lives on shallow water, preferably on hard or sandy substrate, down to 40 meters.
Distribution:
The Topknot can be found along the European coasts from Trøndelag, Norway in the north to the Bay of Biscay in the south.
