• Norwegian: kystringbuk

Characteristics:

The blunt head is rounded, producing a profile not very unlike the the tadpole fish. The body length is less than 6,5 cm, the color usually light brown, green or yellow. The skin is loose and slippery. It is easily confused with the larger Liparis liparis. The most obvious difference is that Montagu's sea snail has a small gap between the dorsal fin and the tail fin.

Habitat:

It does not appear to be very common, but the reason may be that it hides out in crevices or under rocks. It lives from the intertidal zone and down to 100 meters.

Distribution:

It is registered in the North Sea, the Barents Sea and on Iceland.
