Characteristics:
The almost circular carapace can reach a diameter of 13-14 cm. It is covered by large spikes on both the dorsal shell side and the limbs. The color is usually brown or orange. The claws are slender, relative to the body size.
Habitat:
The deep sea king crabs flourish, despite the name, on 10 as well as on 800 meters depth. You may find on both hard and soft substrate.
Distribution:
It is widespread both in the western and eastern parts of the North Atlantic Ocean. It can be found anywhere along the Norwegian coast.
