Characteristics:
The body length may reach more than 3 cm. It has relatively large, black eyes. There is a red spot on the first three tail segments. The color is beige or greenish brown.
Habitat:
Extremely common in the low tidal zone. Lift a rock on a Norwegian beach, and you are very likely to encounter a myriad of these amphipods.
Distribution:
It is widespread in the North-East Atlantic Ocean, from Iceland and Norway to Portugal.
