Characteristics:
The shape of the carapace, dominated by the large dorsal teeth, is a distinct feature of the friendly blade shrimp. It can only be confused with the less common S. spinus. The color is usually bright or brownish red. It may grow to a length of 75 mm.
Habitat:
It is often found around the base of the Deeplet sea anemone, where it seeks shelter, protected by the tentacles. It is registered on a depth range from 20 to 1000 meters, but is most frequent deeper than 30 meters.
Distribution:
This is a species from the North Atlantic Ocean, registered in Murmansk, Norway, Iceland, the British Isles, but also in the north-western parts of the Atlantic.
