Characteristics:
The flying crab is somewhat smaller than the very similar blue-leg swimming crab, reaching a lengt of 30 mm and a width of 38. The three teeth between the eyes are more pointed and the carapace has no hair. It is very light build and actually a good swimmer. Brownish grey, tinged with green is a common color. Young individuals seem to often have light blotches.
Habitat:
It can be found on any depths from the tidal zone to almost 100 meters, usually on sand or gravel.
Distribution:
It is common in the North-East Atlantic Ocean, as far south and west as the Azores.
