Characteristics:

It often appears almost transparent, but is capable of adapting its color to the surroundings. Pigmentation in the shell tend to aggregate to dense spots during the night, but spread out more in daytime to give the chameleon shrimp a darker appearance. A number of white or light blue spots are often seen on the back. The body length may reach 26 mm.

Habitat:

It can be found in large numbers in the tidal or subtidal zone, on algae or seaweeds.

Distribution:

It is widespread in the North Atlantic Ocean and the Baltic.
