Characteristics:
Similar to S. latipes, but has a more distinct and pointed dorsal keel on the last three segments. The back is strongly curved. The second pair of antennae is slightly longer than the first pair. The red tinted body is not reported to exceed a length of 16 mm.
Habitat:
Is is usually found on a depth range from 30 to 600 meters, feeding on hydroids.
Distribution:
This Epimeriidae family is dominating the amphipods on the northern as well as on the southern hemisphere. Epimeria cornigera is known from the North East Atlantic, including the European coasts from Norway to the Mediterranean.
