Characteristics:
It can reach a body length of 33 mm. The rostrum is straight and short, not the more than half the length of the carapace (shell covering the head). The carapace has seven or eight fine spines, two of them in front of the eyes. The body is usually whitish or semitransparent with red or yellow chromospheres.
Habitat:
P. brevirostris is usually found on depths between 10 and 100 meters, on gravel or stony substrate.
Distribution:
Is is registered in the Mediterranean and the East Atlantic Ocean, from Norway to Morocco.
