Characteristics:
The color of this bristle worm is grey or brown. Old specimens may have as many as 70 segments and grow to a total length of 6 cm. On the three front segments there are a number of thick hairs pointing forward.
Habitat:
It can be found on any depth from the subtidal zone and down to 1400 meters. Is usually shallowly buried in sand or under rocks.
Distribution:
This is a well known species from the North Sea and Baltic Sea, but it may exist across the entire northern hemisphere.
