Characteristics:

The characteristic tree shape gives the impression of a coral formation on some distance. The branch diameter is usually less than 5 mm. The color is light grey or yellow. Individuals as tall as 35 cm have been reported.

Habitat:

This a deep water species, usually found deeper than 40 meters, more frequent below 100 meters. In the large fjords, like the Trondheim Fjord, it may be encountered already at 25-30 meters.

Distribution:

It is well known in the North Atlantic, from the Arctic, along the Norwegian coast and around Ireland.
