Jellyfish is not a very scientific classification, and does not cover a single taxonomical order or group. It is somewhat inaccurate to name this page jellyfish since only three of the four orders of Scyphozoans include species most people associate with jellyfishes. The best known is Semaeostomaeida, including many of the large jellyfishes seen floating up on the beaches. The fourth order, Stauromedusae, consists of goblet shaped animals walking around on the sea bed or on algae.
